Chiron, 177-foot Super Yacht
A concert-obsessed owner wanted his 177-foot yacht to sound like the front row — so we engineered a concert-grade L-Acoustics system built to survive the open ocean.
The brief
Chiron's owner is a serious fan of electronic music and the concert systems that reproduce it properly. His goal was straightforward and unusual: put a true concert sound system on a superyacht. When he bought Chiron, the audio that came with her fell well short. He brought us aboard to replace it, starting with the exterior decks and on a tight timeline, so the boat would be ready to enjoy as quickly as we could commission it.
The approach
The open deck of a superyacht is one of the harshest places to put professional audio — salt air corrodes hardware that would last decades indoors. So the design started with survival. We specified L-Acoustics for its marine-grade systems, engineered for exactly this environment; their team supported the design and implementation closely the whole way.
The exterior system works two ways. Speakers are custom-fit and built into the vessel itself, so they sit cleanly within the lines of the boat. Alongside them is a deployable concert-grade rig that can be set up on any deck, turning a stretch of open teak into a venue whenever the owner wants one.
Audio led the project, and it isn't the end of it. Phase 2 is already underway: the same concert-grade standard carried through Chiron's interior, with integrated video and Q-SYS control so the crew runs the whole system simply.
The result
The clearest proof wasn't a measurement, it was a deckhand who heard a song he'd loved for years play through the deployable system. He stopped coiling line, turned it up, and danced and sang along — genuinely floored that a boat could sound so good.
